Curriculum - Science

At Bridlewood we believe in a curriculum that is based on memorable experiences. Through an investigative approach, we ensure that a breadth of knowledge is achieved whilst providing opportunities that will set children up with scientific skills they can use throughout their lifetime. Encouraging an inquisitive nature, children gain understanding of the world around them through hands on activities. To enhance the curriculum, we provide experiences such as: visits from Paul Hill (UK space agency), taking part in the ‘Rocket Science’ space biologist project in association with Tim Peake’s time on the International Space Station, a visit from a science roadshow and a science week; ending with a whole school science fair, which celebrated a range of scientific concepts taught throughout the school. Giving children the chance to share their learning and demonstrate live experiments!

Based on The National Curriculum, we develop medium term plans in conjunction with a range of sources and aim to provide activities that ensure a depth of understanding. Please click here to view a guide to the concepts covered throughout each year group.
